Last minute tips for a safe Saint John's Eve for our pets

Checklist for those who have a dog:
- Check that it has the identification plate and that your phone number is up to date.
- If you go for a walk, always carry it on a leash. For best safety, we recommend tying it with a double leash (or with two straps) on both the collar and the harness.
- Keep an eye on its surroundings during the walk, there could be a firecracker on the ground and injure it.
- Close windows, blinds and doors of the house to prevent it from escaping. Do not leave it in any open space such as terraces, balconies or gardens, nor do you leave it tied up!
- If you have prepared a "safe zone" for it, make sure it has everything it needs before leaving
Checklist for those who have cat/s:
- Put on a collar (with specific safety for cats) with a license plate and your phone number.
- If your cat normally accesses the outside, try to avoid leaving it today. It could be scared by a firecracker, hide and not muster the necessary courage to be able to return home before the festival.
- Close windows, doors and blinds to prevent it from escaping.
- Prepare a safe area where it feels comfortable and can hide.
- If you get home and you don't see it, before you go out to look for them desperately, take a good look inside the house, most likely it is hidden in any hole!
If you lose your pet:
- Report it to the database where its microchip is registered:
AIAC 902 170 401 | ANICOM 935 617 000 | If you don't know which database you are registered in, you can check Europetnet and REIAC.
- Notify the local police of the municipality where it has been lost
- Notify the veterinary services in the area
*If your pet is registered in a database outside Catalonia, we recommend that you notify it and provide your contact details to associations, shelters, shelters, kennels and veterinarians in the area, as we do not have direct access to it and the location of the owners could take days.
If you find a lost animal:
- Take a photograph of it. In this way, even if it gets scared and runs away, we will be able to know which animal was in what place and at what time. We will thus make it easier for the owner to recover it even if we cannot take it. You can publish this photograph on social networks or send it to associations and veterinarians in the area.
- If you think you can, try to take it. Do not chase it, try to attract the animal towards you. Remember that any frightened or injured animal can behave aggressively, if you do not see it clearly, ask for professional help. Call the local police or rural agents so that they can control the situation in the best possible way.
- Offer them water as soon as possible.
- Check if they are wearing a collar with the owner's identification or telephone number. Remember that it may be on a plaque or written on the collar itself.
- If it does not have a telephone number, call the local police or veterinary services to be able to read the microchip
